I’m always in the market for a delicious and healthy smoothie recipe that helps me wake up in the morning. This smoothie contains maca and if you haven’t heard of it, you’re in for a treat. I love it and have noticed my skin clear up since using it, but that’s only ONE of the many amazing benefits this superfood has! This smoothie has only 5 ingredients, has low calories, and high protein so you’ll feel full all morning AND maintain that lean physique you work so hard for in the gym!

Disclaimer: I’m not a doctor! Before using maca, be sure to consult a doctor. Maca is generally considered safe for everyone to use but there is always a chance it could worsen a preexisting condition. Be sure to start with 1 teaspoon of maca per day, then you can double or even triple that if you desire. Just don’t use too much at a time or you could actually experience negative effects. After using for a few months, stop for a couple weeks and then start again.

Here is a recipe I created that is filling, vegan-friendly, delicious, and has loads of benefits!. The protein powder I used for this is from Vega find that it works really well in this smoothie because of its texture and taste but use whichever protein powder you like best (even chocolate flavour works well with maca).

I drink this every time I have a big writing day ahead of me or if I’m designing new graphics. It helps to keep me focused without pounding back gallons of coffee and it’s something I can sip on for a while (i.e. the ingredients don’t separate like some other smoothies do)

Seriously, If you’re a busy babe like me, then you NEED this recipe. It’s such a lifesaver! If you would like to add extra calories, a tablespoon of peanut butter (or two) works REALLY nicely in this recipe.

Vegan Maca Energizing Smoothie

1 cup unsweetened cashew milk

½ frozen banana

1 scoop vegan protein powder

2 tsp maca

pinch of cinnamon

Combine all ingredients (except protein powder) in a blender. When everything is smooth, add in the protein and pulse it a few times. This ensures you don’t denature your protein so you get the most out of your smoothie.
